Climbing
Ecuador offers amazing options for mountain climbing, from the famous and relatively non-technical climb of the Cotopaxi volcano (5897 m / 19,347 ft) to the more challenging Chimborazo volcano (6267 m / 20,561 ft), the peak of which is the farthest point in the world from the center of the earth. For more experienced climbers, the Antisana and Cayambe volcanoes offer a climbing challenge. Numerous other volcanoes offer excellent practice and acclimatization for those who intend to climb Ecuador's highest peaks.
We work with carefully selected licensed and certified mountain guides and climbing specialists, and can arrange both acclimatization tours and climbing tours with top quality equipment and professional guides to assure the most secure trip possible. If you would like to plan a customized tour of Ecuador's famous peaks, an acclimatization tour to prepare you for the highest summits, or combine any of the tours below, please contact us for more information.
Cotopaxi Summit Climb - 2 or 3 days
This is the most popular mountain climbing tour in Ecuador, reaching the top of the 5,897 meter (19,347 feet) Cotopaxi volcano and its crater. This tour requires acclimatization to altitude and very good physical fitness, but is relatively non-technical for those with little to no climbing experience.
Chimborazo Summit Climb - 2 days
The Chimborazo volcano is Ecuador's highest, and its 6,268 meter peak is the farthest point in the world from the earth's center. This is a challenging climb, recommended only for experienced climbers and subject to severe weather and avalanche risks, but reaching the top is truly an unforgettable experience.
Cayambe Summit Climb - 2 days
A popular destination for climbers, the 5,790 meter peak of the Cayambe volcano is Ecuador's third highest peak and perhaps Ecuador's most beautiful glacier. The climb is challenging, and is recommended only for those with good physical fitness and acclimatization to altitude, however climbing experience is not essential.
Illiniza North Summit Climb - 2 days
The 5126 meter peak of Illiniza Norte is an excellent acclimatization climb before attempting higher peaks such as Cotopaxi. The climb to the summit follows a ridge with some difficult sections, but the route is non technical. Good physical fitness is required.
