Anaconda Lodge - Tena Region
Anaconda was the first lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon, recently rebuilt and restored by new owners. A short distance from Tena and accessed by a 15 minute canoe trip, this lodge is located along the Napo river in a beautiful, tranquil location. An excellent option for those with little time who want to see the Amazon; located along the Napo river, the lodge offers excursions into primary forests were, with luck, a variety of wildlife can be observed. Cultural activities include visits with local families, including demonstrations on the preparation of chicha (the traditional beverage of the locals) and chocolate. Swimming is possible in the river. The owners work closely with the local people.
The lodge has 5 dispersed cabins with two rooms in each, offering single, double or triple accommodation and a common area with dining area, lounge and bar. Capacity is 25 persons.

DAY ONE
Arrival at La Punta de Ahuano around 11:00 AM, departure in motorized canoe to the lodge (about 15 minutes). Settle into our rooms, and an introduction to the lodge followed by a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we take about a two hour hike through the "selva nueva", a forest in the process of regrowth, along a beautiful trail passing through forests and local farms. We visit the home of a local family to see how they live, and have the opportunity to prepare organic chocolate. Return to the lodge around 18:30, free time to relax, then dinner at 19:30. After dinner, discussion about the island and the region along with an introduction to the activities of the next day in the bar.
DAY TWO
Breakfast at 8:00 AM, followed by a departure for an excursion to primary forests where with a bit of good luck, we will be able to spot wildlife. We will walk for about 2 hours in the jungle, observing enormous trees and beautiful scenery, and sensing the immensity of the Amazon to the east of the Andes mountains. After our hike, we return to the lodge along the Arajuno river for lunch. Afternoon free to enjoy the surroundings of the lodge, with an option for tubing along the river. Dinner at 19:30, followed by a recreation of a Kichwa cleansing ceremony performed by a local shaman from the island and information about the next day's activities.
DAY THREE
Breakfast at 8:00 AM; we depart around 9:00 we travel for a few minutes to Ahuano where we begin another hike for about 3 hours through another region of primary forest along the left bank of the Napo river. During the walk we will see plenty of older, tall and beautiful trees, a variety of birds, and with a little luck, some mammals. We finish the hike at higher altitude, and for those who wish, the return to the lodge can be by balsa, tubing or canoe down the river, a trip of about 45 minutes. Lunch at 14:00, and the afternoon free to enjoy the surroundings of the lodge, birdwatch, or enjoy the Napo River. Dinner at 20:00, followed by a presentation of a Kichwa musical group, demonstrating their culture through music and dance.
DAY FOUR
Breakfast at 8:00, followed by a walk through the island visiting native families. Check out at 11:00 AM; we board a motorized canoe for the return to Punta de Ahuano (about 15 minutes).
